DR ADAM HANSEN ET AL RELEASE NEW SRS PUBLICATION

This publication represents the largest series of patients with SRS to date. This was presented to the AATS (The American Association of Thoracic Surgery) Meeting in Toronto where thousands of thoracic surgeons attended from all around the world. Costal Margin Reconstruction (3.0) was a huge success!

SURGEONS OLUGBENGA OKUSANYA AND JOEL DUNNING DISCUSS SRS

CWIS ANNUAL SUMMIT 2024, UTAH
14th April 2024
Pictured are Dr. Adam Hansen, and Dr. Ali Abbasi who travelled to the Chest Wall Injury Society annual summit in Utah from the UK. Dr. Hansen moderated a work group session with many surgeons interested in learning SRS treatment. He also had a chance to present his technique and results for operative management of bridging cartilage disruptions.

DR'S LINDA BLUESTEIN AND ADAM HANSEN DISCUSS SRS IN PODCAST

In this episode of "Bendy Bodies", join host Dr. Linda Bluestein as she interviews thoracic surgeon and chest wall reconstruction expert Dr. Adam Hansen, to learn about Slipping Rib Syndrome surgery. Well known for his innovative surgeries for Slipping Rib Syndrome (SRS), Dr Hansen has treated close to 1000 SRS patients. Many of his patients are challenged with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and other skeletal hypermobility disorders.
DR. HANSEN TO PRESENT AT AATS ANNUAL MEETING IN TORONTO

Dr. Hansen will be presenting the results from all versions of his repair and the lessons learned from them at the American Associaton of Thoracic Surgeons annual meeting in Toronto in April 2024 at the premiere conference. This will be attended by thousands of North American and international thoracic surgeons. It is our hope that this will help in the fight to gain worldwide recognition for SRS and its solutions. All the data from the suture repairs and 3.0 reconstruction will be presented and compared, followed by paper publication.

AUSTRALIAN SURGEON VISITS USA TO LEARN SURGICAL TECHNIQUES
14th September 2023.
Australian Thoracic Surgeon, Mr. Naveed Alam Travelled to West Virginia, USA for hands on training in Slipping Rib Syndrome suturing surgery, as well as 12th rib excisions and cartilage fracture bridging with Dr. Adam Hansen. Mr. Alam has successfully completed over 30 operations for SRS previously. It's wonderful to see doctors going so far for their patients!

IN MEMORY OF DR. KJETIL NORD-VARHAUG

It is with great sorrow that news was received of the passing of Dr. Ketil on 12th June, Dr Kjetil was a radiologist from Norway who used his skills to diagnose many SRS patients. Our thoughts are with Kjetil's family, and colleagues at Apexklinniken. Thank you Dr. Kjetil for everything you have done for our community.

We're rolling out a new SRS brochure for electronic distribution! This brochure should help people identify if SRS is a condition they may have, encourage them to learn more and seek qualified help, and further build credibility for the condition within the medical community. WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION CLASSIFIES SLIPPING RIB SYNDROME

The World Health Organisation has categorised Slipping Rib Syndrome (The code is FB82.Y) in its "ICD 11" (International classification of diseases), the first update to be developed and published in 2 decades, which came into effect recently. I think this is quite big news for us, as it means validation. Slipping rib Syndrome is (as it should have been since it was first documented in medical literature 103 years ago), a globally recognised diagnosis.
CHEST WALL INJURY SOCIETY CONFERENCE, UTAH, MAY 2022

The Chest Wall Injury Society in the USA met in Park City, Utah last week for their annual conference. There were over 100 surgeons present, from all over the USA, and some international visitors including Dr. Hsu from Australia, Dr. Edwards from the UK, and surgeons from Brazil and Columbia. Dr. Adam Hansen, of WVU Medicine , Pioneer of the Hanse repair for Slipping Rib Syndrome had an opportunity to discuss his new reconstruction technique, involving plates and spacers, to some of the surgeons in attendance, who were eager to learn. A group of surgeons (Pictured, Left) from the USA including Dr. Hansen, Dr. Bauman, Dr. Eriksson, Dr. Doben, Dr. Kaye, and Dr. Gassner, will be collaborating in the near future to write several papers on Slipping Rib Syndrome, Which is excellent news indeed and will further the awareness and knowledge of SRS in the medical community and beyond.

2022 CWIG ANNUAL CONGRESS - BARCELONA
17th May 2022
The Chest Wall International Group Annual Congress this year will take place at Hospital Vall D'Hebron in Barcelona, and will feature a lecture by Dr. Lisa McMahon, on slipping rib syndrome, and a 1 day rib fixation course delivered by Thoracic Surgeons from the USA. This is a wonderful opportunity for thoracic surgeons from across the world in attendance both on site and virtually to learn about Slipping Rib Syndrome, its diagnosis, and treatment, and I hope will particularly benefit patients here in Europe!

STSA 69TH ANNUAL MEETING
13th July 2022
Dr. Adam Hansen will be presenting his 3.0 costal margin reconstruction technique for complex SRS at the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this November, 2022. Typically these presentations are later published in the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. It will include a video presentation to demonstrate to other thoracic surgeons how to perform it and a discussion of the outcomes. I hope that this will further advance awareness of SRS among the community of thoracic surgeons, and broaden the options for patients in selecting a capable surgeon near to their location.
